swan song

post has nothing to do with the much-hyped film starring portman and ryder. the other day, me and a coupla of bag fiends (i actually didn't relish being labelled as one; i wasn't even half as obsessed as some on tPF) were wafting in and out of reality and daydream-scape about getting one last bbag. we decided that the style would be a black weekender. then we could look like supermodels (i said this) in our skinny jeans (contributed by the one who's turned a big bag lover thanks to another colleague) and don't forget the vitamin water bottle (this from the colleague who likes big bags)!! lol.

for me, i used to say i'd conclude my bal affair with a black first, which was indeed my first love, or rather  first crush. then i changed my mind along the way and considered the black work. but i already have two works, so the weekender did seem like a good choice. then i asked myself why would i want yet another bbag since i liked variety? anyway, it's just one of those things my small mind entertains once in a while. like, i'd like to own a DSLR cam one day. but then, maybe not, since it's really not so essential that i'd die without one. kwim? besides, i did get myself a SLR vintage cam (or was it two?) and i've long neglected my bbags. i even  toyed with the idea of donating one of the bags to the unifem's give to save...

of course i'm not so noble, lah. don't forget that i'm afflicted with the incurable disease of a hoarder. even if i don't use my bags, i could pass them on to my mother/sil/niece (wow, i can't believe i get to emulate what the celebrities do, lmao!). ok, ok, enough of my bs. the point of this post is that i finally got my dream bag! so this might well be my last luxury bag. yay!

got it just don't get it

been wearing the duck bag since last week. it's great for when i need to telecommute. the laptop bag's so much heavier.

just found out that it's cheaper to get baggu bags from rockstar. cheh. (should i get the nutmeg afterall?) i almost got a pair of their yellow reeboks some weeks back. the price was good but the shoes weren't a very comfy fit.

got the vest and high-waisty chinos on two separate occasions with the guru. aily shoes from bukit timah sc. the rubber soles disintegrated barely 50m outside the house. what's new.

i got myself a roll of film today. almost took a yashica electro 35 home to play but alas it's not to be. i have something else on its way to me. but i so wanted to put my claws on a vintage rangefinder now. any which one would do, even if i'd forgotten how to load a roll of film. lol. there're loads of camera shops near the office. i have no patience...

it's mostly restlessness at play here. i have quite a few assignments due in the next few weeks.

新发现

Digital: Profit center for large foreign corporations.

comex is happening now but no way am i going to be part of the stat in the 800,000 crowd. i don't like to be given too many choices anyway. it just spells more headaches for me during the decision-making process. i'm still quite interested in the panasonic camera. a colleage recommended i approach a John at unit 3.16 at funan for recs (when i saw her message, i thought why she's quoting scripture for cameras. rotflol).

the internet's really a formidable place. i logged on to check out about the weekend fleas at OC and i ended up engrossed in so many new things. i really do live under a rock. i'm still not sure if there'll be my type of flea market happening at OC today and tomorrow. Truth-flea Speaking reveals that ffff is happening at home club today. i haven't been flea'g but it's not really been so long ago, by my standards. i should be stopping if i wanted this endeavour. but of course i was just talking thru my butt again. i haven't told you i've been accumulating more stuff in between... save me from myself!!

besides discovering that the guy behind Hotel 1929 has opened yet another boutique hotel, i found a site selling vintage cameras. so i'm now wondering if i should set aside a coupla hundreds for one such, instead of a digital one. but i have no reservoir of knowledge about old-skool cameras. i should know a little bit even if it's experimental photography involved? i need to grow guts and visit the camera shops that surround my office area. i feel self-conscious about walking into such shops. like i'm a wannabe, caught up in this citizen photography trend. i'm honestly too lazy to do research. i know i could find out more on clubsnap. there're just too many things to house in my brain.

links to the site:

maybe i'll get the help of Uncle Tony, since the tenants in Peninsula seem to have been around forever. my SIL told me there's a 老字号 camera shop in the building. i'll borrow Uncle's guts to find out more :P and if i had guts and a thick skin, i'd love to join these bunch at little india today. can try the new LX5.

truth be told, it's really the tan camera case against the steel parts of the vintage zeiss ikon that appeals to me. i'm such a form over function person. it's like that for my cellphones. and it's like that for the bags i lust for.  i used to own this camera bag and i wore it to dealth w/o a camera ever seeing the inside ofit.  and i was always looking at camera bags on etsy. yesterday i saw a tan Dior with steel hardware at Zech. it's a tiny bag yet it's the only bag i'd consider buying.  about 1.8k, iirc. if i had spare cash, the siao char bor in me might just buy it. somebody save me from myself.

- Why We Love Film

(that's why i'm considering the digital, lah. but yes it sounds so horrid to be giving too much to big firms.)

i'm not boy-crazy, if you're wondering what's with the guys' names used in my recent post titles. i'm once again wondering if i should invest in a good digicam. i'd wanted to get the LX3 earlier this year. i thought i might find a better deal in tokyo but in the end the desire didn't rank high enuf to spend more time on the hunt. now LX5 is akan datang. guess i could aim for the older model then? but i already spent on my cellphone replacement.  am i really going to bother lugging around yet another gadget? it's not like i wanna be a citizen sartorialist leh.

i'm just restless again lah.
