i've been meaning to write this post ever since the numerous sightings of platform wedges on blogs fashiony and non. how long has it been now? it just seemed like i'd never see the end of studs and platform wedges, init! i really thought i'd puke if i saw another blogger wear those shoes :P 

i had a brief history with platform shoes and wedges back in the 90s. i liked my platform slippers from m)phosis but i was also teased for wearing them (your house flooding, ah?). some other malay guy said i dressed ah lian. i suppose so, ha ha. i'm ashamed to say i dressed quite scantily during my younger days. some manager (a man) from the hotel told another male manager (my boss then) that me and a colleague dressed like hookers. tsk. we're usually in spag tops and short skirts. yes, sometimes i didn't bother to wear strapless bras so the straps showed. is that less tasteful than bras with clear straps? oh well.

to each her own, of course. some girls can really rock those shoes. my only beef with them (the shoes) is that they're tricky team players. i do not think they go with every kind of clothing item, based on what i've seen on  some blogs. i do think the not-so-wedgey ones are more versatile (think the current Celines). but it's just me and my nonsense rules. i might have to take them back (again) one day. i have a pair of rather rad ones sitting idle somewhere. apart from them being hard to match, the other challenge is of course my ability to walk in them.

so when did those acne shoes invade earth? i didn't enter blogosphere until the middle of last year so i have no idea of the timeline. i caught the above performance back in 2008. i was too shy to try on the rubber shoes (i wasn't sure if we're allowed to.. they placed two pairs on the stage at the end of the dance and barely a handful of us hovered around... i saw one of the female dancers looking on from behind the back curtains... i don't even remember if i'd tried to gauge the weight of the shoes). i so dislike it when i'm such a wimp. you only live once, what's with the hesitation, for goodness sakes.

it was really this post by luxirare that reminded me of aKabi by Aydin Teker. one of the writeups says it's all in the shoes. and i can't agree more. i remember i could dance better in certain shoes when i went partying at Fire disco. is it like that for you? i mean, we're talking about freestyle dancing. not ballroom dancing. nor ballet, ok?

if i told you i took ballet lessons when i was small, would you believe me? lol. it was for a brief time. cos i totally can't recollect why i was suddenly doing folk dance instead. i'll have to ask my ma when she's back. if i'd continued with ballet, i won't be the hunchback of bukit batok today.

i had a really bizarre dream last night. i dreamt i was about to collide with the Sydney Opera House and it suddenly dived under the water, like a submarine. this wasn't all. before that, i was cramming into a capsule lift the size of me with my head and legs bent at weird angles. i was descending. and there was a man. bingo? maybe.

ok, it isn't about my face this time. breakout is back! i caught them last year. i'm so going to see them in action again. sometimes i really wished i'd followed the dream of dancing...
