the only way is up

via freshome

i've been toying with the idea of having a bunk bed or loft bed in my bedroom, not unlike those you could find in a little boy's bedroom. there'd a desk underneath the bed. this way, the space up there won't be wasted. yes, i could use that space as storage of other stuff. but i'm really trying not to store things that i don't use much (what's the bloody point, in the first place? but of course i'd have to take this back one day).  this way, i would also free up at least one wall to line my shoes and bags and clothes

i'm really quite keen about it. except should i really be considering it when i'm reaching menopause?

old flower club

celebrated an old friend's birthday with some other mutual friends. i knew her the longest time (about 30 years) while one knew her for about 10 years. we're all women, all singles, all afflicted with 老花眼. things were looking really familiar. yet i couldn't imagine how my life would've panned out otherwise.

What can it profit a man to gain the whole world and to come to his property with a gastric ulcer, a blown prostate, and bifocals? Mack and the boys avoid the trap, walk around the poison, step over the noose while a generation of trapped, poisoned, and trussed-up men scream at them and call them no-goods, come-to-bad-ends, blots-on-the-town, thieves, rascals, bums. Our Father who art in nature, who has given the gift of survival to the coyote, the common brown rat, the English sparrow, the house fly and the moth, must have a great and overwhelming love for no-goods and blots-of-the-town and bums, and Mack and the boys.

剪刀 | 十头 | 布

just can't insert pictures directly | just can't move the image to the centre | just can't seem to do the brutal thing brutally enuf.

i managed to 'salvage' some of the items from the store. the easiest way is to simply snip off some parts of a garment to convert its functionality. since vintage cropped tops are hard to come by, what better time to start cutting away.

i did however get past the urge to continue to hog some same items i've been hogging and moved them to the "bin it" category. i think i have a sickness. i didn't use to be like this. or maybe i was all along this way, except it's more pronounced now.

i don't know if the 'deconstructed' pieces will work or not. maybe they'll end up in the bin as well.

sun time

What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?
Nothing! I'm quite good with my wardrobe. Every year I brutally sieve items out into three piles - to keep, to give away and KIV. After another year, if the ones in the KIV category still haven't gotten any "sun time", then out they go for good.

ask me this question and i'll give you something else. i do try to do the brutal thing Yaz does. i dunno why it's become harder for me as time goes on. it's not like i can't let go of the few bucks that i sell them for. is it an age thing? i shudder to think i'm heading that way.

anyway, i'm going to retire some of the things in my sack. last call now. i'll get to doing the brutal thing next week. i hope.

it's complicated

What is retinal detachment?
A retinal detachment is a condition in which the retina has separated from its underlying layer of supporting tissue, thus losing its function.

What are the symptoms?
A retinal detachment is usually preceded by the onset of a posterior vitreous detachment (PVD). The symptoms associated with a PVD include sudden onset of floaters and flashes of light. The majority of PVDs are benign. However, in a small group, the PVD can cause a retinal tear to develop, which may progress to a retinal detachment.

i suddenly couldn't see well in my left eye last week. weirdly, it happened while i was at work. my friends rationalised that i was "allergic to work" and "anti-work. they're not wrong. so since i never saw an eye doctor about the flashes (goodness, it's been two months already), i didn't hesitate this time.

my retina's intact, thank God. but the doc (kinda cute, him) seemed to suggest that i could expect the temporary blurring of vision again. he said my eyeballs are large (lol). they've always been large then, right? so why now? i asked, just for the sake of it, if i should consider lasik to correct my myopia that, sadly, never really dipped. worst, i seemed to be afflicted with 老花眼 finally. one positive note out of this? more glasses for me -> yayness. i doubt i'd prescribe bi-focal lens. but never say never. i'll know as i grow older.
