the post title was inspired by J. i had meant to post something quite related, so it's one of those bingo things that i'd log on in this space. this post by the Vintage Traveler also inspired the birth of this post.

there was a time, not too long ago, when i had a dearth of bags. my style guru would know. it's really *thanks* to her (you'd get why the ** later on) that i now don't commit as many mismatched-bag faux pas as often as before (i actually cannot recall at all whether it was so bad that the Fashion Police would lock me up forever). i do remember i used to wear those 'green' bags very often. i found them very useful as they're roomy and easy to wear. for someone who's quite anal about aesthetics when it comes to personal style, it's almost strange that i didn't consider the bag as an important puzzle in the whole picture. i place the burden almost entirely on the clothes and shoes, just not so much on the bag. maybe it's cos i've seen how some smother themselves by the bags they wear, especially the branded bags. i'd sooner be labelled a clueless bag wearer than be seen as a branded bag whore.    

so anyway, that's what happened before "the rest is history". i can't recall now why i'd choose the balenciaga moto bags over the other brands. i suppose it's cos the edgy image appealed to me more; i could see the bags complementing my personal style rather than overpowering me. and they're more affordable. 

have things changed for me since then and do i regret having spent much on the bags? sometimes i did wish i'd never taken that road. it's like how i wished sometimes that i'd never ventured into blogosphere. it's like what this song says: "the more i see, the less i know." it's like what the bible says about real wealth. i'm not dissing on the fashion industry and all that's related. who's the culprit at the heart of it? what's the right thing to do? should i even bother? 

i'm so inarticulate i apologise for how the post is turning out. i had in mind something totally different; my thoughts were all jumbled up and these're what managed to fight for space here. time for a picture, yes?

i didn't write this post to justify away the fact that it's wrong for people to steal ideas. would you buy a fake or inspired bag (i never really understood the difference between these two)? would you spend $10k on a real Kelly? is it so wrong to spend $50 on a nice-looking bag? should one be spending $10k on a bag? should we judge the person for wearing a fake or inspired bag that costs very little?

those of you familiar with the shopping belt should be able to get the extent of the flood that took place yesterday morning. on the right outside the photo would be the hermes store.no casualties there, i believe. i live under a rock or have fish memory so this took me by surprise. if i'm not wrong, bukit timah is also one of other low-lying areas in singapore. i think i was caught in floods only a couple of times in my lifetime and that was during school days. the water reached just above the ankles so it's nothing dramatic. 

trivia:
it was 端午节 yesterday.  

i heard from someone that it traditionally rains on this festival (i couldn't verify this fact) so we could have rowed dragonboats down this River yesterday.

so the bag i saw months back was the fruit of a sofia coppola + LV collaboration. i fell quite hard for it then. it's not a brand new one, though. i wonder how much the monogram one costs in the boutique. i don't think i've ever stepped foot inside one. there was a long line at taka's when i wanted to check it out. i think the plain one's probably better, in that it looks less stiff and more versatile.

but. would i pay for the leather one when i couldn't imagine paying 3k for the slightly used monogram one? and honestly, does it look very different from the speedy sans shoulder strap? i could simply get the epi leather ones. plus. i dunno why i always end up going for boston-style frame bags that might not even suit me. *rolls eyes*

i've been in the purple phase these past days. not just me but my other colleagues were also always clad in purple attire. even our section's christmas tree is wearing purple. lol. what do you know about the colour purple? i was quite amazed at these observations. what colours do you like? do you like purple? well i'm not seeing anyone... lol. purple is not my fave. i'd say my fave is orange. i never thought orange would be associated with healing. perhaps it brings to mind the sun that gives life, so to speak?

talk about orange. i treated myself to something orange today.

i can only afford their fragrances, lah. ha ha. there's one that's really unique. to me, at least. it *surprised* each time i put my nose to it. the scent still lingered on my wrist. yet it dried down to smell so mild and powdery. full of surprises.

in other news, i passed the exam and my grades were better than i'd expected! my Lord God deserves to be praised and glorified. my gratitude cannot be faked. it doesn't mean that i hadn't done my part of putting in some effort, least of all that i passed w/o having to do much. the you-reap-what-you-sow formula does not change. after all, it was He who created this miracle.
