原封不动

not the most flattering pictures but here they are anyway. if i dared to head outside and be seen in this outfit, it means it's passable. lol. but i was merely going to church. the only fashion rule i applied for such occasions: don't be too sloppy. which basically means no slippers. even now, on dress-down fridays at work, i couldn't make myself wear 'expensive' slippers like birkenstocks. i'd feel so obviously sloppy. many colleagues do that, i don't always approve, but somehow it's just not so obvious on them? it's all in my head.

wore the jumpsuit with the top down so the bottoms looked like paperback harem pants. if i had broader shoulders and longer legs, i would be richer today, from all the savings on alterations. almost wanted to wear these boots but i think i'd look really cartoon.

CofC
the top's reversible. i got it cos it's reminiscent of fashions past. is this outfit (below) sloppy? i can imagine why management would frown on dress-down fridays policies. i don't envy those who have meetings scheduled on fridays. thankfully, i get to wear casual on all fridays except the 1st friday of every month for the next 4 months.

all the talk seemed to have nothing to do with the post title. i'd been at quite a low point... i hadn't been documenting much about it, it's pointless i guess, cos i'd still be in the same place. not sure if it's not as bad as before, if that could be ascertained by looking back on the blog posts. it could just hit me suddenly. i almost never made it to church just now. the haze was rather bad. i didn't have the desire. i was openly defying my Lord. i deserved better. i didn't deserve His grace. i wanted more. i just wanted to stay put.

typical

shown here: these pants worn high-waisted. they're not vintage. they remind me of these pants i'm selling.

time to replace the phone? i got the chance to own a brand new HTC wildfire at a discount today but i passed it up. i'm just going to ruin it before the warranty is up. haha. i don't have a data plan subscription anyway so a sophisticated phone's wasted on me. it's also time to confess that i've been slightly tempted to get a tablet pc.

ambulatory

see how i've ruined my bag, ha ha.
the shorts were from a local blogshop, only cos they're on sale. the other items were expensive. no more of these, i just can't afford it.
the top's from ASOS, my very first order, ever, from that site. i liked the colour and shape so much that i got it in UK10. i think their items are expensive as well. i haven't seen my bill for the rate conversion. 98 quids for a pair of boots, two shirts and a pair of bottoms. but i'm pleased with most of them. i'm tempted to get more stuff...
but did you know that i'll be heading to korea next month? seoul exciting!!

agree to disagree

first outfit post for the year. how often did your garments get rotated? if my documentation was correct, i last wore the dress in apr 2010. tell me i wasn't the worst?

i guess one reason was that it's very casual. and i seemed to be stuck wearing it this way. belting over an outerwear's a new thing, though. it's been really cold and wet these two days. i'd wanted to wear leggings. just as well, cos i got quite drenched on the bottom half. i just wanted to hug my legs to my chest while at work. how does one dress for wet weather?

i thought i might've found the perfect pair of frames that'd make me look geeky yet great, like these girls. but i think it's a futile effort. and i've been wearing eyeshadow and mascara! i could take some pictures to show you. you'd probably not see my eyes no matter what i put on my lids.

i hope you comprehend

it wasn't planned. not the co-ordination of the colours of the hair accessories although wiw was pretty matchy-matchy again. as for the hair, i've been telling myself i should start wearing my locks in more ways than one before i chop them off (on a whim one fine day). so this was the best i could do. i didn't want to use those red or yellow rubber bands to secure the ends so i used these things above. i got them purely cos they brought me back to the past. it's quite scary how thick my skin's gotten as i aged. i never used to wear bright or candy colours on my head.

relentless

i asked my bro and sil to choose between the pink and grey shoes to go with my outfit. i had on this pink top and this grey skirt with faint white dots of some sort and this white long vest and this grey bag. the guy chose the grey and then changed his mind. his wife's choice was pink. or some totally different colour - which i agreed with.

then i thought of the white shoes. still matchy-matchy, haha.

which would you wear?

november rain

went to watch TONE. i quite enjoyed it. i didn't always enjoy a cappella, tbh.

watching them reminded me of myself: of dreams unfulfilled. of passions lost.

the dress was on sale and it's the only one left - in L size. i almost wanted to wear my rebecca taylor's beige gloves. i think they're too large. haha. iirc they're also the last pair available then, when i was in tokyo.

i really wish i could do more with my hair. i suspect the problem's me. i tried to copy this but Failed.

tiga hari

the purple circles on the cardigan is an exact match to the purple of the dress. the same gold shoes with the bows gave way even before i got out of the compound. i'll need gold shoes now. the only other pair's for sale. i really wish they fit better.

3 more days to retrolicious. i'm not going. i'll try to attend the sun festival instead. george benson's going to be here! this guy's linked to a small part of my life.

retrolicious

another blast from the past. the funny thing is, i keep reading and hearing about "paddle pop" but i have totally no recollection of it being in my life back in the 80s. i only know it's the name of ice cream and that's that. i can't get over the fact that my colleague who's almost two decades younger than me can talk about paddle pop and i cannot relate. lol.

anyway, i took a trip to GDO's again and brought back this top. i've been in the 'retro tops' phase since this time. or i just needed an excuse to spend :P

i went thru 3 pairs of shoes. settled down with the woven ferragamos. this top also reminds me of a sliver of my past when i worked in a factory. i think i was 16 or 17 then. when i went back to that time, i remember my 'red indian' moccasins and then i remember how one time i slipped into the shoes to experience that grotesque experience of a lizard wriggling at my toes.

retrolicious is happening in oct. i kinda feel like going. but it's weird to attend alone. few nights back, the radio deejay had a phone interview with Rick Astley. i had a good laugh listening to what he had to say about the 80s. Yaz asked him how much of the 80s fashion would he not miss (or something like that). his answer: 100%. lol. he mentioned pastel linen suits.  he mentioned the shoulders. he mentioned the colour lilac.  lol. he said just take away the faux pas and we had great music. what irony. i think he said his daughter's wearing 80s fashion these days. she's turning 18. but he said something bingo: we have to step back at least a decade to be able to appreciate that past (or something like that). certainly the case for the fashion?

do you have a favourite song by Astley? or by any of the acts coming? who prefers Tiffany? ;)

开课了

acquired yet another pair of aviators. Uncle Tony said i wear men's eyewear well. i guess. i don't sound elated, do i? lol.

ta-da! my very first contribution to the dearie.
