split

i'm still miffed about not being able to wear skater dress. but maybe i could wear skater dresses split up into two?

i'm also still miffed that a fringe doesn't suit me. itching for a new look again. (i found someone who gave me a good cut some months back --yay!)

i just never learn.

bangs

vika gazinskaya
yes, back to thinking about cutting my hair again. this time, it's whether to bangs or not. the usual factor for consideration, apart from itching for change, is that my hair's still short, so if not now, when?

problem is, it seems that i've been taking longer to grow my hair out. my last trip to the expensive stylist, my idea was to grow it out, else i'd have gone for a dramatic change. but i think she knew me better, since she convinced me to keep the fringe...

when i finally make up my mind, i also have to decide who to go to. thinking of changing stylist too. why can't i just be contented with the same old same old?

realised it's been 2 years i lopped off my luscious locks. i also haven't been logging down my recent misadventures concerning them locks. well, i'm still a sucker for certain locks. anyway, i couldn't get past myself again and i went to another stylist to fix it. then 2 months passed and i itched again. i was actually quite content to wait as the locks had become quite the way i liked them, except the style was asymmetrical and so one side had gotten quite thick. so i thought i should have the longer side balance out with the shorter side. and so i was back to the same style as i looked back on the past posts! so much for variety. sheesh. i was close to doing a short fringe but the stylist managed to convince me i didn't really want that. she's right, actually. i'm just going to end up being frustrated with the fringe falling all over when i could've tugged a long fringe over one ear. oh well. i kinda wish i should've waited. tomorrow - i'll wish for an even shorter do.

dare

happy new year!

chandy
i've been up to... some stuff... was  just not too inspired to log them in this space.
i did get a new look following this post. and again i was wishy washy about whether i liked it. was tempted to cut the hair even shorter. the curls have tamed a little, so i'm in two minds still. and of course i got all kinds of comments from the colleagues about the hair. what's new. i think i'm more sickened by myself than anything else. it's like i'm the betrayer of myself. i want it yet i don't want it.

tres chic
it's the same on every other front, it seems. i'm just so sick of being like this. i want to venture out, yet when i did, i wasn't sure i wanted that something new.

the above two wall coverings are on my radar now, amongst many other stuff. it's rather unlike me. yet i want them quite badly. but i don't trust myself. i can't afford to waste more money and time, really. yet i refuse to settle. the problem is, my choices are few.

i want everything.

i want nothing.

magnetic

there are too many pictures to post. i haven't been following karla's blog. i'm not against curvy girls but my goodness i think she looks so darn good slimmer and fitter. a little gaunt in the face.. she looks so different w/o the heavier makeup and curls. i'm just so wowed by her current look.

i want a new look again.

还用说?

is this vika? i'm pretty sure it's her. how do i tell? it's firstly the hair pin, and then her knack for wearing something totally different from what everyone else is wearing. so she's done it again. to me, she's one of the few who always managed to look different from the other 'fashionistas'. maybe it's really simple: just make sure you're not wearing what everyone's wearing? no? i mean, like, if everyone's wearing isabel marant, you just steer clear of that uniform look. or, if the trend now is to wear long maxi pleated skirts, please lor, just do the opposite lah.

i'm curious if she has a nice pair of legs to wear this skirt. and this photo's missing the most important item that reflects her take on the outfit: shoes.

here's a(nother) shot of her in her more vintagey look:

i think i'm going to grow out my hair, long enuf to try out another short do.

when i saw this picture of Vika, it's like, hey why hadn't i thought of doing this?? i mean, nobody said i had to keep cutting my hair, right? i mean, i like my hair short.

but i'm not Vika, i can't get away with this

at least it's a reminder i could do this if i wanna grow my hair out, lah.

fringing botak

via

via
been thinking about shaving the sides so as to direct the attention to the top of my head. i don't know how come i'd even consider such radical-ness. as for my fringe, i'd really prefer that it's off my face, meaning it's long enuf so that i can tuck it behind my ears. i'm fine with a full fringe, actually. but it's high-maintenance.

i mite as well go botak, rite?

btw, does anyone find leto hot? how about orlando bloom? i never understood why they're considered hot at all.

i really don't like that tail of my hair falling over one side.
you know how i dislike obstructions. things that are fussying about me as i go about my way. sometimes i do wonder how i can be a layer fiend if things are draping around me. hah.

attn

i don't suppose i can get away with this look, right?

a colleague paid me/my hairstyle a compliment again. same term used. she even said she wanted to snap a picture of me/the hair. it was embarrassing. because she said that while we're in the office lift filled with people. was i glad they couldn't really see my face. they probably didn't know i existed until then.

i could talk about this thing called attention. but i'm not sure where/how to start. it's an issue both shallow and deep, i think.

trendy

vanessa jackman
this is yet another post related to hair. ha ha. you see, my hairstyle's very similar to the woman's in the picture, except mine's shorter and more graduated at the back, and not so sleek. frankly, i dislike the style. i wonder who decides the styles to wear for the season.

which is what led me to write this post. i was reminded what my stylist said during the recent cut. she didn't care that i didn't care for trends. now you understand why i was quite mad. mostly at myself ultimately. why couldn't i have been more firm, when it's my hair? what's wrong with me?

or i might as well BE trendy since that's the term many ended up using when describing my... style. i'm not sure if i like it better than "fashionable" anyway.

重倒覆辙

i should explain myself clearer what led me to say this. on some days, yes, i did hold that opinion, even if i knew it's totally baseless. and then, by saying it out loud, i give people the impression that i'm an ingrate.

frankiedotcomdotau
anyways. the real reason's also super lame. i was basically quite mad at myself. because i ended up going back to my hairstylist who charges 17 bucks for a wash & cut. i thought i liked the new cut. a coupla colleagues said it's nicer (presumably compared to the last one).

but i think she didn't do a very good job -- again. i only have myself to blame. because i was too cheapolata to spend 70 bucks on a cut (i have a few other reasons for not going to expensive hairdressers).

at least one thing's for sure: i won't be going back to her 2 months later.

p/s: does audrey tautou's do look hideous to you? how come some people can get away with bad hair jobs?!

don't understand why everything just always seems better going for everyone but me.

b.i.b

it's been a while. i usually would've cut a tapered silhouette for the bottom half but i figured i should try something different. i was also inspired by a colleague whose style i dig alot. the skirt has to be short enough, flare enough; so i think this worked. i need a haircut again.

fringe benefits

i'm secretly pleased that she's not looking her best here. or maybe this was her best look by far and then i'd have reason to brag that i share something common with her. style g would know what i mean.

rewind

i thought about whether to write today. tomorrow. ever after.

i'd like to be read. do you not?

but i guess i must write. sooner or later.

so i've been to korea and back last month. it'd turned out to be an unexpected delight. although it didn't occur to me sometimes when i wasn't so 'aware'. an example's the food. i was quick to declare that i never loved korean food. it's still a fact... i mean, i prefer japanese to korean anytime. but if i were to be really honest, they don't differ by tooooo much. korea was occupied by japan for a spell. so why am i being such a snob?

korea turned out to be rather scenic. not unlike the wonders i've witnessed in china and countless other spots on the planet, i'm certain. it's all the work of His mighty hands anyway. and it's universal that we must praise when in the presence of awesomeness.

apart from being the accidental tourist, i also got to do things i didn't usually set out to do, like going to a spa and a theme park. my travel companions were thinking of a ski trip the next time they do korea. i said skiing is not on my list of things to do before i die. but i think i should be taking that back. you see, it's cheaper to do it in korea, so it could only be the better option for me. i hope i'd be able to go if they do decide to go sometime in the near future.

a few other firsts happened during this trip and they had to do with my luggage. i bought a combination padlock for it and it's gone when we reached korea (one of the girls got the same padlock but hers was intact). then the combination lock on my luggage decided to quit on me on the last day. but thank God, nothing was lost.

i'll be honest with you. i'd like to do korea again for some... shopping! lol. i didn't even buy a single pair of shoes. it's something i always made a point to do when i travelled (but i think hk and china are still the best places to get cheap yet decent shoes). i hafta admit that it's a refreshing change that we didn't get to do much of it. we didn't even have time to drop by the famous dongdaemun market! i'd have liked to have my hair done at sinchon but we're given one hour only. i ended up buying two brollies (one of which is pictured below) and a canvas bag there. i'd like to go back to this store to check out more of their wares. we had more time at myeongdong where i scored a shirt and a dress. my friend got the same dress in a different colour for slightly more at sinchon. yayness. ha ha.

as for skincare and beauty products, i did haul back some things. if it were a decade ago, i might not have left the shops w/o emptying half my wallet. even though they're significantly cheaper there, they all added up to a substantial sum of money. a week or so after our return, we found out that nature republic seemed to be no more in singapore. my friend ended up buying some lip and nail products here since they're on clearance. lol. me? i was a very good girl.

ok, i think that's all for now. till i write again!

stray rose

this is probably my 3rd or 4th time wearing the dress since...
... 2008? dare i admit that i'm missing my longer locks? i do think i can do both long and short. maybe it's just age. of course i'd looked better when i was younger, eh?
i don't know what's with the hem of the dress. i thought it's collapsed somewhere and needed some stitching but nothing's amiss leh.
time to start packing! and i'm so worried i'd fall sick. been feeling feverish and giddy these past 2 days.

stray rose is the name of the mac blusher worn here. thanks, style g!

讲来讲去

today's a day of nerves stretched to breaking point... ok, i exaggerate. things were finally resolved but i was left disappointed. i grew the guts to ask the middle managers some questions. i think i might get more disappointment. worst case scenario is i don't get answers and end up being labelled a rebel. i don't hope to win here. i already lost. i just wanted to understand why some things happened.

or maybe i did win. i mean, not to say this whole thing's about winning and losing, it's just a way of illustrating the struggle. i should be thankful that the task was completed, despite the blockages along the way.

i'm pretty sure i won't understand one word when i look back at this post in the future. lol.
