haiku fan

still at a loss as to how i would use the limited space of the nest. in this picture above, it's the fan that i'm lusting after. i think it costs s$740. groan.

i got to know of this product from this magazine. apparently, the parent company is Big Ass Fans (you gotta love the name). i first got to know about the fans during the presidential election pollings. i was so tickled by the name i even took a video of one of them in motion. lol.

i'm also liking the grey wall and flesh tones, the wood and steel, the greenery. sigh.

胸有成竹

what's fighting for space in my head now is any double-breasted garment (i've satisfied the cap-cravings very quickly). i remember i fell for the look in a magazine (likely Allure) countless years ago and even showed the picture of the outfit to the front office manager when he told his staff the hotel's going to make new uniforms for us. my suggestion didn't get through. i can't remember how the new uniform looked... i think i got promoted sometime after that. i remember my new uniform was quite smart, but the jacket's not double-breasted.

anyway, the design i liked then looked quite similar to these above, except of course the hems of the skirts weren't so high up the thighs. i still think it's a great look for a hotel uniform. it's formal but doesn't give a stiff vibe owing to the slightly flirty skirt. it's just too bad they didn't share my good taste. lol.

so you can imagine the degree of my lust for these from Gianfranco Ferre's fall 2011 rtw collection!

the looks aren't so dated, eh? 够凶吧!i was looking for some such jackets on etsy but at the back of my head i was concerned about the vintage vibes they emit. i even consulted Dead Fleurette about it. now i'm convinced i need to invest in a couple of these items. i think i do already own a dress with a double-breasted front and round neck. but it could look quite granny... i shall revisit it soon.

i'm also liking this jacket. no lapels:

which designer had the best collection this fashion week (wherever it is) for you?

high maintenance

I love knit, for no specific reason, it is one of my favorite fabrics in the world, the one I've started with, the one I love... That's the way it is.
My clothes and looks are for every women; you have to look at yourself in the mirror and decide what fits you well.
Then, keep this look;
an intelligent image, elegant, maginificent.
Coordinate yourself, your make up and your accessories.

The color skin is also a question of what's in the air, a question of trend, tanned or not, pale or not... The most simple products, that make a natural radiance.
I think they should look at themselves one hour per day in the mirror.
So they know what's good to hide, and what's good to show.

What matters is the allure, the way you walk, and seduction: be elegant, and make you up.
Beauty and fashion are naturally done when you take care of yourself.
Be strong and demanding with yourself and decide to be beautiful!

how long

I’ve wanted to do this since I was about 16, so as soon as I had the chance I was like, ‘Right. This is it.’

It was weird. My hairdresser was like, ‘When are you going to freak out?’ Most people cry or go into shock, but I was very calm. I knew it was the right thing. I went to the salon alone and I left alone.

I hate my hair.

After An Education, I had a small part in Michael Mann's Public Enemies, and he wanted me to dye it white blonde and it wrecked my hair. It was falling apart. Fried. So I had to cut if off. I cried.

question asker

Pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag,
And smile, smile, smile,
While you've a lucifer to light your fag,
Smile, boys, that's the style.
What's the use of worrying?
It never was worth while, so
Pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag,
And smile, smile, smile.

the skirt probably last saw daylight about 2 3 years ago.
i've been coming across photos that're about that old. it's a weird feeling. should i be glad i'd looked better then, since i was about 2 3 years younger? i only wish to look just the same, even it meant i was already 38 37 years old. gosh, i'd totally stopped using things like eyeshadow and mascara. i know mascara does make a difference, can't say the same about eyeshadows. do they make you look older? anyway, i read shortly after this post that an eye pencil's
"softness enlarges the eyes more than liquid liners do" (quoting Dec Harper's Bazaar, Singapore edition).

why the song above? i got into a verbal squabble with my ma this morning. so i was lamenting to a friend about it. the same friend had invited me over for a pecan pie and ice cream party come this sunday. she'd just learnt how to make pecan pie and wanted to share the joy with some close friends. i suspect she also knew i needed some kind of 'life' outside my minute world. so she really wanted me to be there. so she told me to pack up my troubles and make sure i get well by then. (were those the exact lyrics of the song we sang when we're small? lol)

i have a problem saying sorry to my ma...

迷你

i'm currently in this phase.

i'd wanted to try french manicure but i couldn't find those nail stencils. a colleague said she'd pass me some. she said they didn't work for her. i betcha they won't work for me, then. i'm an utter disaster around such girlie things. i tried to do the tips on a larger surface area (such as my big toe nail) and i ended up painting half the nail. yes, please go ahead and laugh at me.

my digits look something like the above now -- except they're just the length of the darker nail colour. my nail colour's a bronzey shade. i have a picture of my painted digits but i shall spare you. or deny you of another chance to laugh at me.

loud and pout

Beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. That, and a kick-ass red lipstick.
