copycat

i got this dress before i found out that even clothes are
*inspired*. sometimes i can be so thick i don't know what else to say. so, i'm not sure if most of my clothes are copies of some designers.
as for the bag, i bought it for the same reason i got the dress: i liked it. enough to buy it right away w/o first asking about shipping costs. not only that, i bought a duplicate one in black, with perforated holes all over. i confess i did find them familiar looking. i thought it could be gucci. a gucci hobo is still a hobo, right? and then i saw this bag via Camp Comfort. you tell me what to think about this whole copycat issue. i find it all very amusing.

I love your dress!!
sometimes I buy some things are inspired and that's fine. It happens, as long as i love it.

Adorable dress. I figure there is nothing original in the world so while I don't like people copying, it's part of being human...

Hey :) It's my first visit coming via Hanh's blog. The dress is very sweet, I like it a lot. It looks chic and comfortable and suits you very beautiful.
I second Hanh's comment above. The only very hilarious copycat style are items with brand name on front or excessive brand look like LV or GUCCI etc. They're making me laugh out loud very hard every time ;)
Great blog, will visit again!

bah. the whole copycat thing. i am not up on all designs by all designers, so it is tricky (and EXPENSIVE!!!) to always to the 'right' thing! and not to be a royal turd, but we all are inspired by SOMETHING, so it gets kind of tricky to always be 100% original! :)

In response to your comment; my lace tights are quite sturdy and the dotted ones are already ripped--so I really am not too careful with them anymore.

I think most things these days are inspired by other designs. Even luxury designers 'borrow' ideas from other designers. Everyone from Marc Jacobs to Decarnin for Balmain have been accused of copying certain looks (though MJ has actually duplicated exact patterns). I think it's fine if a dress looks similar to another one. Same goes for bags. The only issue I have is with real fakes that place a logo or a designer name on the item or label, or really copy every single detail with the intent of passing it off as the original.
