i really don't like to rant much on things beyond my control. but it's happened 2 days in a row, and this is my space, so i shall log it in.
why can't people not speak softer when they're in a conversation, say, in public places? are they hard of hearing? or they want to show off? sorry to burst your bubble, woman. it's su-pe-ri-or, lor. not su-pe-ri-al, lor. and what's new - it's always about work. why do people do that at all? i don't get it, lor.

I hate this as well. And usually I get the people with the ear buds talking on the phone at such a loud volume, I'm sure whoever is listening can hear the person without the phone.
Oh, and re: being accosted in public transport, I got that a few times. It's always either guys who look like pimps or homeless people. Go figure.

Hi C!
The perils of public transportation eh? I feel you. You just gotta get your ice queen stare on for those times ;)

i have quite the opposite problem in that i speak so softly people ask me to repeat myself entirely too often.
hmph.
hi guys, thanks for stopping by! it's a very sweet surprise for me. excuse my use of *singlish* - despite this, you understood my post! :)
HW - i tried to figure out why i'd be targetted by insurance salespeople as well, amongst others. maybe we have kind eyes? i got this comment from a japanese man once.
N - i'm quite chicken these days... i find myself smiling to strangers much too often for my own good!
i totally agree with you on this!!! i hate noise! it is everywhere! loud tvs! louder commercials! everybody shouting! it drives me bonkers!
Aw, my mother totally embarrasses me by talking really loudly in public...but I defninitly think it is a hearing thing.
It's also a bit American...I think we're trying to drown out all the noise we hear around us.
