skewed

Why do we get training in relational and emotional management strategies and teach others to better control their lives, calling it therapy or pastoral leadership? Do we really love control that much? More than surrender? More than trust? More than servanthood?

And why do we support people without challenging the high value most everyone places on the good things of life? Why are we quiet when wonderful, tangible blessings are regarded as the abundant life that Jesus promised to everyone? Why do we try to use God to arrange for what we think will satisfy our soul, call our effort prayer and obedience, and then expect, with a spirit of entitlement, that good things should follow?
