i confess i got curious. i felt for her a little. i've seen how a friend got quite affected when she heard a schoolmate jumped to his death. we went to the same school. he's probably one of the most popular guys who'd remained well known long after he'd left school.

i clicked on Kim's archives in 2007 to get to know her. read her entry why the fork?

what are your thoughts?

I was shocked to read about Daul Kim's death today. She was stunning, outstanding, creative and seemed to be a very interesting personality. 20 years.... That's so young.

Sometimes it's hard to understand why somebody who seems to have everything and is living a glamourous life in the spotlights could feel so lonely and is filled with such a deep and strong pain.
Unfortunately this last exit suicide seems to be the only way to lead this pain come to an end for some of the depressive persons.
A real tragedy. It always is.

This previous posting by Daul is showing a very deep pain, a strong depression, very obviously. A tortured soul.
The two sides of a personality, the "dark" side which she is calling herself the Daulmonster.
It hurts so much to read "my life as daul was so miserable and lonely. please join my loneliness in another world." It's two years old - but so actual as she could have written it yesterday. So the past years should have been accompanied with those gruelling feelings.

omg, there must have been so many things going on in her mind. like what she said "its overwhelming and i am".
i cant believe it really happened, and at such a young age. so sad :(

I wrote a comment concerning this on another blog, but basically this is just another sad reminder that the fashion and any other creative industry (whether it's film, music or art) isn't as glamorous as it's put out to be. For every glitzy side, there's an even darker one, and I think the stress of being someone's pawn and marionette will take it's toll, especially if it's on someone who's as emotional and brimming with creativitiy as Daul. Creative people I know have walked out on jobs, quit on the spot or never returned from vacations. Many have had burnouts resulting in years of serious therapy. It's really not a fun field if you're not able to be yourself and be your own boss - especially if the constant travel she had to endure resulted in her never making real friends or being able to retain a long-term relationship. I just wish she had returned to Korea and quit the industry before it got to her like it did.
