mnemonic

^i wore the yellow shoes to work.

^but switched to the gold flats as i feared the rubber soles would give way. the heels are triangular instead of cylindrical. i doubt the cobbler has triangular rubber soles...

i got the dress for a thousand yen in Ueno. i love it when i find things unexpectedly or they wait for me expectantly. it didn't happen very often when i was in tokyo. i could've gone on a mindless rampage but i didn't. there really wasn't enuf time to comb thru everything. Ueno's probably the most unlikely place to shop for clothes and shoes but that's where i found a shop that sold vintage shoes. if it were springtime, i think i'd linger there forever. we couldn't find the dried cuttlefish packaged in fake currency but we did the green tea kit kat. my colleague told me just now that Ueno's known for "dried goods". see? lol.

Harajuku's quite cool, lah. i think i saw a guy being prepped to be photographed by some 'sartorialist'. i didn't see many crazy dressers the place was known for. wrong timing, perhaps. i skipped checking out the margiela store. i dunno why i was so... lazy. even when i had the chance to get something unavailable here, i wasn't too inclined. my friend was very generous: she bought a comme des garcons tee for her niece. i wasn't sure my bro and sil would take too well to the black hearts with sneaky eyes on their daughter. myself? i couldn't decide which i liked more, or less. so i passed.

then i also passed on the newborn baby clothes when i went to the comme ca store in Shinjuku. my sil had told me they'd prefer i buy something that my niece could wear when she's older. my sil is a frugal person who buys only what's needed. i think she's received enuf freebies from kind souls. i'd hate for things to go to waste, too. i suppose this was why i didn't spend much for this trip. i did score from the store an outerwear at 70% off. i'd have loved to get a romper and a shirtdress but i couldn't bear to pay too much for them.

more randomness when it trickles out of my head. till then, tata.

I haven't been to Japan since I was a kid, so I'm dying to go back. Love your dress! Such a great silhouette and the paisley pattern isn't too overwhelming, which makes it quite versatile. I do love Margiela (well, I prefer the older collections), but you can get CdG Play t-shirts easily online, so I wouldn't worry about that.

P.S. Got an award waiting for you at my blog :)
