Oh, and re: your last post... I must honestly say that Milan isn't the prettiest city in the world, let alone in Italy. It's grey and very industrial - not as glamorous as the other fashion capitals. If you do make it your home base, I'd venture out into the Lake Como/Lake Maggiore area. Florence/the Tuscany area is beautiful, as is Venice and Rome, but you won't be able to go to these places and come back to Milan in a day.
