come home

"God is at home; it is we who have gone out for a walk."

We've all left home. We're not even looking for the face of God. Second things have become first in our affections. SelfTalk is the language we speak when we don't realise that what we really want is God. We speak it more fluently, more religiously, when we think we want God but in fact want only to use him to grant our wish list. SelfTalk, religious or secular, is the language of people who have left home and are trying to make a rented apartment feel like home.

I like the analogy of trying to make a rented apartment a home. Very interesting.

This is another good quote from the book. It really makes you think. I like the part about using God to grant our wishlist because I think it's so true.

To answer your question, Jon and I both wear glasses and neither of us wears contact lenses. My prescription is very light and I only wear glasses when I'm driving. We were both preparing to leave the city that day, so that's why I'm wearing my glasses :)
